Back in January the Beasts of War crew gathered together under the beating heat of the Coleraine sun (well the studio lights at-least) to recreate The Battle of Rorke’s Drift!
The battle at this small missionary outpost immediately followed the British Army’s defeat at the Battle of Isandlwana on 22 January 1879, and continued into the following day, 23 January.
Some 150 British and colonial troops fought a valiant and successful defence against an intense assault by 3,000 to 4,000 Zulu warriors. A staggering eleven Victoria Crosses were awarded to the defenders, along with a number of other decorations and honours.
The film Zulu does a great job getting the feel of the event, it doesn’t quite do all the characters true justice to their bravery against the odds. So with this anniversary and with the help of the Beasts off War community member avernos here’s a bit about the game they played and what happened:

You can of course recreate this battle and many others with the Warlord Black Powder ‘Zulu!’ range
