New: Thirty Years War Boxed Sets!

no comments

With stacks of models now in our Pike & Shotte range mainly dealing with the English Civil Wars we’ve turned our attention to the Thirty Years War. The first in this part of the range are these two great value plastic and metal boxed sets – Swedish and Imperialist infantry! There’s a lot more on the way but for now these are exactly what you need to get started…

Swedish Box

Just so there is no confusion, these boxed sets are based around our existing Pike & Shotte plastic sprues. From the outset we saw these sprues being ideally suited to both English Civil Wars and the Thirty years War. Just take a look at the pics below and you’ll see what we mean!

Swedish Infantry

The Swedish boxed set contains a whopping 42 miniatures – 36 plastic musketeers and pikemen and 6 metal miniatures giving you a full command group of officer, sergeant, ensign and drummer as well as two armoured pikemen. Even better, the command miniatures have multiple options so you can build them in a variety of ways giving you stacks of variety in your army. Let’s face it, for an half-decent army you’ll need more than one of these sets so the variety will be very useful.

The box contains new metal headgear – in this case Swedish Morion helmets.

As you have come to expect from Warlord boxed sets there is a very tasty full-colour leaflet inside which gives a potted history of the Swedes and their King, Gustavus Adolphus as well as loads of flags for both the Swedes and the Dutch (the protestant Dutch were also fighting against the Imperialists, most notably the Spanish during their 80 years war for independence).

Gloriously painted by the team at Artmaster Studio you’ll agree that the regiment looks spectacular. Imagine several of these backed up with cavalry and cannon!

You’ll also find stats for the contents of the box so you can field this regiment in your games of Black Powder: Pike & Shotte (released 2011)…

Imperialist Box

As with the Swedish boxed set the Imperial box is rammed with plastic and metal too! 44 miniatures comprise this set – 39 plastic musketeers, pikemen as well as sergeant, ensign and musician. On top of that there are 5 metal miniatures – 4 armoured pikemen and an officer dressed in cuirassier armour!  The officer has multiple options so you can build him in a variety of ways giving you stacks of variety in your army. Again, you’ll be needing more than one of these boxes to get your army rrady to take on their enemies…

The full-colour leaflet in the Imperial boxed set contains background on Wallenstein and the Imperial army as well as flags for the Holy Roman Empire, Catholic League and Spanish armies of Philip IV. Also included are French standards of the armies of Louis XIII. Although the French fought against the Holy Roman Empire the armies would have dressed in a very similar manner to the miniatures in this boxed set.

The beautifully turned-out regiment you see here has been lovingly painted by our old pal, Alan Mander. Note the graveyard in the background by Architects of War – we’re not sure whether to laugh or cry that some of our names are on the headstone…

Imperialist Pikes

As you can see above the box contains new metal headgear – in this case Imperial Morion helmets and wide-brimmed hats.

You’ll also find stats for the contents of the box so you can field this regiment in your games of Black Powder: Pike & Shotte (released 2011)…

Imperialist Officer

What’s not to like in a gentleman officer in armour and lace? Only a man holding a partizan can pull that off without ridicule!

Imperialist Ensign

Holding aloft the famous Imperial eagle, this ensign is just one of the options you can build using the plastic command sprue in the box.

Right, that’s enough great-looking pics – head on over to the Warlord webstore and get started on your army…
